Look! Look! It's mine and it's functional and beautiful!

I need to spin the weft out of the gold wool that I bought at the Sheep and Wool Festival, and I need to build my tensioning device so that I can warp the loom without assistance, but! But! AUGH!

Today the satellite dish guy is coming to install a new HD DVR upstairs so that the Friediness will have TV in his "man cave" and I will have TV in my "studio," but soon I will be ALL SET to watch crime dramas while working with string! I'm so excited I could just burst!

Also, i finished Masha's sweater:

This sweater is meant to be her payment for helping me clean out and organize my studio to make room for the beeeyooooteeeful loom. I hope she likes it!

Very nice.

I think it may be a sign that I've been in the SCA too long when I have more friends who have such looms than have big screen TVs.

It's good to know that my friends have the right priorities.

Very nice.

I'm a little jealous. I've always wanted a nice loom with a view.

Well, the view ain't much, as there are climbing vines on the back of the house, and even though Zig cleared my window off, their little suction cups have gummed up my windows and screens to where it's really hard to see through the window at-all... But I have a nice TV and Maggie and Jasmine for company, so it's all good.

I'm glad you like it! The pattern is from the Fall 2008 issue of Vogue Knitting - #28. The pattern had some errata and Vogue has a VERY BAD HABIT of using abbreviations based on abbreviations with definitions of said abbreviations scattered throughout their publication with no references as to where one might find them - however, the pictures of the finished garment were good enough that I was able to persevere.

I am such a new knitter that I am always trying to figure out if the pattern I have is one I am able to figure out. But reading ahead in patterns is always a terrible idea (at least for me) because it never makes sense unless I am actually doing it. I end up getting intimidated and not starting. That pattern would probably make my brain explode.

It is very Masha like though and you did a lovely job. You have mad knitting skills

Congrats on your loom :) Also, that sweater is gorgeous!

You are amazingly talented and industrious. The loom is an excellent addition to that room.

I love, love, love the sweater! My sweater is stalled somewhere halfway up the sleeve. I am not convinced it'll fit, is the problem.

*sigh*

I had to rip out Masha's sweater 3 times before I could eyeball it and be convinced it would fit. She's a 32" chest which should be an XS according to my pattern. My guage matched theirs, but once I cast on, I was NOT convinced the sweater would fit... So I tore it out and made an S at 36" chest. That STILL looked small... So I tore it out a SECOND time and made an M with 40" chest.... I did the whole sweater as a size M that SHOULD have fit Eithni. The sweater fits little Masha like a GLOVE. That wasn't the only mistake in the pattern, but I'm glad one of my oddball talents is looking at someone and knowing roughly what size they are without measuring... Applied to the sweater I was able to figure out that it was NOT going to fit before I put too much time into it...
