After what feels like a month of making dinner on the theme of "What can I make with mayonaise and the cheapest meat at the grocery store?" I have finally gotten PAID and gone on a girly grocery shopping BENDER.
$156 later, I am more happy than a full cupboard should make me, which makes me realize how much I really do enjoy cooking for Mr. Boyfriend.
The Liberated Girlfriends Union is so going to throw me out.
We've gotten into a habit where I get up at 8:00 and let the dogs out so they don't wake him up. I drink the coffee he set to brew for me the night before and start work. He wakes up at 11:00 or so and I make us both breakfast/lunch. If this computer consulting thing don't work out for me, I think I've got a healthy career ahead of me as a short order cook...
This morning for breakfast we had egg-in-a-hole and ham steaks. YUM.
Then I work until 2:00 at which point he feels neglected and we have a siesta with wriggling dogs and people all enjoying a nice snuggle in the bed. Maggie and Jasmine love it because it's the only time they BOTH get to be in bed with BOTH people. If we're trying to sleep there just isn't room for 4 in there... But if it's just a "dogpile of love" we can all fit.
Then I go back to work until... whenever the work is done. Sometimes 5, usually 7, occassionally 9 or 12. Then I make dinner while he goes to the gym. Last night we had stuffed green peppers and navy bean salad (I was feeling like summer picnic food was just the thing.) and for desert I made carrot cakes with raisins in these charming mini cake pans that I got myself as a treat.
I'm finally starting to lose weight, now that all the junk food, white flour, corn syrup, and preservatives have been stripped from my diet. I sit around the house like a slug all day, but just that wee change has taken 10 lbs off of me. The other 10 will likely require that I go to the gym. *sigh* Oh well.
In about 45 minutes I'm going to zip over to Tristan's house to pick up MamaDog. (Is it weird that I'm starting to think of him jokingly as the "baby daddy?" Seriously... we've had discussions about what kinds of discipline to use and are trying to maintain consistent rules for both houses. And now I have to drive across town to get her because it's my day for "custody.")
So all in all a good day. Lots of veggies to cook and infinite meal possibilities, kitchen puttering, and a visit with my darling doggie! Yay!

As for the dogpile of love, we do that... but with the boy and cats. The dog smells WAY too much to be welcome on my bed, ever. I mean, even AFTER a bath... still smells. One of those weird things I'll never understand...
And I have a foolproof plan to lose weight- starting in about three weeks. It's called "Labor". I'll lose at least ten pounds *Nods*
Also, totally understand the joy that is a full pantry. *hugs*
