So my things for yesterday weren't really all that exciting. I carded all the turmeric dyed wool to even up the color and remove some of the excess dye dust. The color is now even, but the wool is still shedding turmeric as I spin... And my fingers are yellow. Hopefully more of the excess will come out when I rinse and size the wool once I'm finished spinning.

My other thing was to finally sit down with Zig and hash out an initial draft of the guest list for our wedding. Wedding planning is truly a test of one's relationship. By the end of a two hour period of going through our facebook.com lists, myspace.com pages, Pennsic pre-reg lists, and personal address books, we were both pretty snippy. The beer and irish coffee helped a bit, but there was still a certain degree of dissent about the annoying people we "have to invite" to avoid social SNAFUs later and the best way of going about inviting the people that we don't even seem to have proper email addresses for...

If everybody on our list accepts, we will have well over 250 people at this point, and this is only the first draft. I KNOW I'm forgetting people... CRITICAL people... I'll have another look at it this evening when I feel less stabby.

I was joking with my roomie the other night that what you should do is have Zig win Crown again, and then get married at Coronation. It'd be a HUGE money maker for the group and Kingdom (I mean everyone would want to come!) you could hand pick through the cooks in the Kingdom and get the best food - for free, handpick through all the seamstresses and get the best dress - free, etc etc.

The whole idea amused me to no end, I must admit. :P

Actually... We've already done something like that... Only without the year long commitment to be fabulous after. A friend of mine who is an AMAZING seamstress in Antir (Caed?... Antir... Washington State.) is making the dress. [livejournal.com profile] shavasue and [livejournal.com profile] arebekah have agreed to handle the reception dinner, and [livejournal.com profile] eithni will be autocratting. And my little sister is donating her considerable cake decorating talent to grace the dinner table with one of her beautiful confections. I am amazed and touched to have such gifted and generous friends.

Ha! Our Baron and Baroness got married recently, and the exact same thing happened. Everyone pitched in a little bit, and at the end of the night, one of the bridesmaids stood in the middle of the hall, yelled that it was time to clean up, and just like that all the tables and chairs were down and the floors were swept.

SCAdians have the best parties, mundanely or no.

Just wait until your parents all insist on inviting co-workers who invited them to their children's weddings, even though you don't personally know them.

Yeah... We only got through the bit where we were realizing that we had several sets of extremely incompatible ex's and were having to debate on a case by case basis whether or not inviting only one party and not the other and risking having someone feel un-loved, was less dangerous than having both parties accept and show up and cause a fire fight...

I vote for making them sign contracts not to cause trouble, and if they violate said contract they agree to be arrested for breach of contract and hauled off ;)

But if it makes you feel any better about 250 people - my sister's guest list was up near 600 invited..... Thankfully half of them didn't show (as expected) so they avoided the social SNAFUs without having to find places for that many people they don't know.

I was all for Vegas from the get-go... It was Zig that wanted the big wedding... I think he's starting to understand my point of view now...

Bleh!!! Spending most of my day either waiting in line or getting poked at sounds much better than your day...
