And no, the things I accomplished did not include a single load of laundry... I'll work on getting at least one done tonight as I frantically warp
devikat's tiny-est ever loom and try to whip out an "accessory" for the Griffin's Needle competition which starts this Friday.
On Saturday, I spent the entire day at the Kegslayer residence taking a silk painting class from Salem. OMG. COOL! I will be using this new-found super-power to decorate the bejesus out of my coffee shop at Pennsic, plus a little surprise for Vlad's...
Here is the little guy I made in the class... Anyone recognize him?

Sunday, I spent some "quality time" with Mama at
fencert's house. We played fetch until I was COVERED with mosquito bites, and Mama was limping. (She seems to enjoy breaking so hard that she ends up either doing a baseball-style-slide-into-home-base skid on her FACE, or a summersault. It cracks me up, but it seems to wear her old bones out quicker... Though it doesn't stop her from doing it EVERY TIME. It just stops me at about the 15 minute mark because I'm worried that the dog will end up with MORE brain damage or skinned eyelids.) Once Mama was gimpy and content to chew her ball, I gathered all the ripe tomatoes from
fencert's garden.
Some of the tomatoes looked a bit less ripe than I would have liked, but quite a few tomatoes were already laying on the ground, so there was no sense in leaving them there... As I picked up the ground-fall-tomatoes, I noticed some suspicious nibble marks in a few of them... Apparently they had "help" falling off the vine.

In all, Mama and I picked 23 tomatoes. I took a 22% cut for myself (5 little tomatoes) and prepared 18 for
fencert to use later. We boiled them for a minute then pulled the skins off, chopped them to bits, and froze them. Mama's not a huge fan of tomato skins, but she did taste one politely. After that she declined and slobbered on her tennis ball instead. (Mama is VERY skinny and doesn't appear to be at all interested in her food.
fencert, if you're reading this and have some way of getting in touch with Paul, please ask him to remind Mama to eat daily. She cannot live on tennis balls alone... I call her over to her food dish and give her a little squirt of ketchup on top to get her started... She only ate about a cup of food last night, but it was a cup more than she'd eaten since Friday... *worried* I'll try to get back to check on her a few more times this week, and maybe harvest more tomatoes if they're ripe.)
Surprisingly, 18 tomatoes isn't that much once they've been preserved. I used a couple of my 5 tomatoes to make Zig and I tomato-pesto-sunny-side-up eggs for breakfast once I got home from
fencert's house. Yummy!
