A niddy noddy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niddy_noddy) is a device used to wind a skein of yarn. You have to do this and hang the skein for a bit to even out the spin on hand spun yarn before you wind it into a ball on the ball winder.

"mung rag" is a generic term for the cheap dish towels that you keep in the garage for wiping the black crap off your hands when you change the oil in your car. I keep them around the coffee shop for cleaning up spills and getting the "sticky" off the outsides of the liquor bottles. I hate sticky bottles.

I have never been to Pennsic...

You don't pack rain gear? Or is that the garbage bags?
Or flashlight..? Not even for emergency, like dropping a contact or pill?
But I guess you camp with a large group, I suppose there's probably a communal aspect for many things huh?

Re: I have never been to Pennsic...

Apparently, getting wet is a lifestyle decision that I made a long time ago. When it rains, I get wet. I don't own an umbrella in RL, so why on earth would I use one at Pennsic? Generally when it rains, and I *don't* want to get wet, I just go inside. I generally have enough spare clothes that when I *do* get wet, I just work until I'm done with the wet part, and then I change into something nice and dry and make myself (and any other wet workers) a nice Irish coffee. There is a certain communal aspect to things, but there are things that I deliberately leave at home because I just never seem to need them.

I don't usually take a flashlight to Pennsic. I generally use candles, and when I do need a small electric light for "safety reasons" I have an LED light on my key ring that I don't even think about until I need it, then voila! It's always there.

This year, I purchased a very nice little oil lamp that will be just the thing for going to the privy in the middle of the night.
