So, I've got one of the tabards appliqued and now it's time for the surface embroidery... But I'm having problems with the thread... I got some nice pearl cotton thread but I don't think I like the effect...

You see the top two black chains were done as two ply and you can see the stitches quite visibly, and I don't think I like it. I ramped down to single ply for the bottom chain, and while it's better, I'm still unthrilled by the result. What should I do here? Opinions? (Tristan's going to be wearing this sucker, so where-ever he is, he may want to weigh in...) PLEASE DON'T SUGGEST SPLIT STITCH. I hates them, I does.

Here's a "further away" picture for anyone who is caring for in progress pics.

I don't really have a suggestion, other than maybe silk floss that is smaller - but then, it's silk. Maybe regular floss in 2-ply?

Hey, on a separate note, I sent something for Zig with Murdoch to Jara practice tonight. He said he would pass it to someone if Zig's not there, but I wanted you guys to know to kinda expect something.

Zig and I won't be at practice tonight, due to Zig's friend getting a spot on the Ultimate Fighter TV Show this season... (Tonight is the first episode of this season.) We will be at an MMA party tonight instead of Fighter practice. Hopefully Murdoch can leave the package with Eithni and we can pick it up when I leave with her to come to your house on Friday. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] liz_bet suggested that I try a back-stitch instead of a chain stitch, so I shall try that next. In 2 ply it may be just the thing...

I am partial to stem stitch, either single or double ply. I hates the chain stitch for some inexplicable reason...
