Today I'm wearing some hand-me-downs from my brother. (He was delighted to finally be big enough to hand-me-anything. But in this case, it was the jeans he bought himself while he was working at Abbercrombie and Fitch just before he started gaining weight at the gym the second time. It's all very complicated, but he had been up to 180 lbs but then got sick over the summer and lost 30 lbs and bought new clothes because his pants kept falling off and then he got better and put the 30 lbs back on. Mom complained about how much you have to feed a 6'2 boy to put 30 lbs back on him, but really, I think she was glad he wasn't actually wasting away.) These jeans are odd and are not even Second-Favorite-Pant, even though they are carpenter's jeans which means extra pockets. Usually extra pockets=LOVE, but the extra pocket room is offset by the weird high waist-band that tries to saw me in half every time I sit down. Also, the high waist band seems to have dictated higher pockets which means that instead of sitting ON my enormous wallet of doom, I'm kinda sliding OFF the enormous wallet of doom... And the forward sliding motion can lead to a serious wedgie if one is not careful.
So... Yeah. These Pants are FLAWED. They will not be promoted to Favorite Pant. I hope I can go shopping on Sunday after the Super-Bowl... But somehow I doubt that's going to happen.
Tonight right after work, I'll be leaving for Hromnice Day with Shava and Giles. It'll be a 3-4 hour ride up to Kit's place where we will be visiting and spending the night before the event. I will miss my dogs and my Boy, but it will be fun to visit with people whom I don't normally see every week. Plus traveling usually = ADVENTURE! (OK, not so much anymore, but it used to... Now that I drive fairly reliable cars and have a relatively high percentage of friends with reliable cars, there is far less hitch-hiking and creative finance involved in long-distance travel, which reduces both stress and ADVENTURE!) Anyway, I have some very nice, nostalgic memories of not-so-fun car trips and assorted event related ADVENTURE! Spending 3 hours in a vehicle usually makes me reflect on those days with a half smile and a sigh of relief that that time of my life is OVER.
