Since I had the day off yesterday, I was able to get quite a bit of knitting done on the new sweater. Despite the fact that this sweater was supposed t be "Man Sized" it is coming out with a very delicate feel... Almost like lace... Thus I think it will make a better sweater for a girl, who would be apt to wear it over a turtle neck.

That's what the whole thing looks like, and below, you can see the cabling is starting to take shape:

Man-Sized Sweater Lacey Girlfriend Sweater

That's what the whole thing looks like, and below, you can see the cabling is starting to take shape:

- Cast on 72 sts, and k3,p3 in the round for 6 rows, increasing by 2 at the collar back in one of the middle rows. Ending with 74 sts.
- Place markers at 28 sts (back), 9 sts (sleeve), 28 sts (front), and 9 sts (sleeve).
- Starting at 2 sts in from one side of the front panel, knit around until you reach 2sts in on the other side of the front panel, then turn and go back.
- Increase on every other row on each side of every marker.
- On every increase row, when you are at the front, pick up a st from the collar for 4 repeats.
continue to knit the collar all the way across on the 5th pass of increases and start edges of cabling.- Completed front is 17 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, 34 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, and 17 sts. Completed back is 17 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, 35 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, and 17 sts
- Cables are 4 columns of 3 sts, cabled every 3rd row with 2p border on either side.
- Completed front is 17 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, 34 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, and 17 sts. Completed back is 17 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, 35 sts, then 2p, 12k, 2p wide cable, and 17 sts
- Continue increasing on either side of each marker for 30 more rows until the sleeves contain 81 sts and front contains 100 sts.
- These sleeves are boring! Lets add a braided cable! When the sleeve is 41 sts across, purl the middle st. This is where we'll start the cable.
- (43 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p3 stitches in the middle of each sleeve.
- (43 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p3 stitches in the middle of each sleeve.
- (45 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2, k1, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (45 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k3, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k3, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k5, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (49 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k7, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (49 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k7, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (51 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k9, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (51 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k9, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- Cabled braid is 2p, 9k, 2p with 3 colums of 3 sts, cabled every 3rd row in a braid. Start cabling on a convenient row when cabling the main body cables so as to maintain the knitting rhythm.
- Join sleeves at 81 sts each and front and back pieces for 200 sts.
- Knit each sleeve in the round, decreasing by 2 sts ever 6th row opposite the cable.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) When you reach your first row of 47 sts, it's time to stop cabling! P2, k9, p2 stitches in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2, k7, p2 stitches in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2, k7, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k5, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k3, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k3, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (45 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p2 k1, p2 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (45 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p3 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (45 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p3 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (45 sts across each sleeve) Next row, p1 sts in the middle of each sleeve.
- (47 sts across each sleeve) When you reach your first row of 47 sts, it's time to stop cabling! P2, k9, p2 stitches in the middle of each sleeve.
- When sleeve is down to 45 sts total, decrease every other sts so that 45 sts becomes 30 sts in one row to form the cuff. (Every 3 sts becomes 2 sts). k2, p2 for 12 rows to form the cuff and cast off.
- Knit the body all the way down until it’s as long as desired.
- Decrease every 9th stitch in a row so that 200 sts becomes 180 for the waistband.
- K3, p3 for 12 rows to create the waistband then cast off.
