This year I made my first "unsupervised" Turkey. (Deena wasn't around to co-chef this year.) I think it came out very well, and it was, much to my satisfaction, a very juicy bird.

I was a little worried yesterday when I did my ninja run to the grocery store... The 13 lb turkey was frozen solid, and the package stated that it would take 1-2 DAYS to thaw a bird that size in the refrigerator. I scrubbed out the sink, not having a pot big enough to hold the turkey, and did a "cold water thaw," which reduced the thawing time to 8 hours. Crisis narrowly averted.

Being as 'Friediness and I were the only ones eating the turkey (His mother is vegetarian, so I made her Quorn Chik'n.) I was very tempted to make a tin-foil bikini to leave tan-lines on the bird... But being as this was my first Thanksgiving with Friediness and his Mommy, I decided that it wasn't entirely appropriate... Maybe next year...

I hope you all had a lovely holiday surrounded by friends, family, and yummy food! I'm off to play with my string some more... I haven't used the loom yet today!

My friend Janette always cooks her turkeys from frozen. She says they take a little longer, but always turn out moister.

Heh. Moooist.

Good word.
