I think dinner was a success. Ian and I made 3 plate-fulls of ghetto sushi with the works. Crab, avacado, green onion, red peppers, cucumbers, ginger chicken, sesame seeds and the STRONGEST wasabe I've had in a long time. Poor Ian was super-stuffed by the time Zig and Gwyneth were done getting their tattoos, because I mad him eat all the "messed up" pieces as we were making the sushi.
For dessert we had ice cream with carmel sauce and pokky fans. (Basically I jammed pokky sticks into ice cream in a fan shape and drizzled carmel sauce over the lot of it.)
In other news Maggie has developed this weird OBSESSION with potatoes. Yesterday I heard her crunching on something in the dining room, and went to check what she was eating. It was a raw potato that she had gotten out of the kitchen. I took it away from her and scolded her a bit. I threw the half eaten potato in the trash, moved the potatoes to a higher shelf, then went back to the couch to check my email. 30 seconds later, Maggie came trotting proudly into the room with a brand new potato, which she laid pointedly on the couch next to me before sitting down pretty and offering me her paw.
"Here, Mom. I will do tricks for you. I would like this potato as my treat."
"Maggie, I just fed you."
"Shake? For a potato? PUH-LEASE?"
"You cannot eat a raw potato."
"You can cook it first."
"I am not cooking a potato for my dog who just ate dinner."
"Well, I don't mind eating it raw. Shake? For a potato?"
"No."
"Oh, fine, there's more in the kitchen... You don't have to share that one with me - even though I brought it."
"Stay out of my potatoes."
***
Zig just busted her trying to get into the potatoes again. I'm just trying to decide if she didn't bring him one because she knew he wouldn't cook it for her, or because she didn't think he would share it with her once it was done... Maybe I will need to get one of those hanging baskets to keep the potatoes in.

Dog... potatoes... lord. Your dog's weirdness = my cats and their weirdness. Animals are the funniest things.

Nothing like having guests over, and discovering AFTER inviting them into the living room that MaybeCat has draped underwire bras over the light fixtures and MamaDog has barfed up your second best panties on the rug... *sigh*
Just when you thought you'd FINISHED all the tidying up...

Alas, if there are bras draped around the living room, it's my own fault for drying my delicates there.

That means we will have to do it again sometime! Maybe Ian can make us all dinner and I can learn one of HIS favorite recipies!
Or maybe we can all just hit a restaurant before his next show. I had lots of fun at the last play of his that we attended!

Or the next show is a good plan, but that won't be until February or so.
Or the Benihanas that's having all you can eat sushi nights for $23.95.
Maybe we can do it more than once. . .

He's big enough to countersurf if he wants to.
