I got two bags of candy at the store last weekend, seeing as last year Zig forgot to turn the porch light off and was caught off guard by dozens of little sprouts demanding booty. (Fortunately his personal stash was large enough to accomodate the little beggars, but it made a marked impression on him. This year, he reminded me no less than 6 times not to forget to either buy candy, or turn the porch light off.) So... Candy was purchased and the porch light was left on, but there were no children. I saw them go buy on the opposite side of the street, but they never crossed over to visit us. Perhaps its because our neighbor is the Creepy, Crazy Old Man type that is featured heavily in Urban Legends about modern cannibals. Or maybe our side of the street has come up with a bad reputation for "slim pickins" when it comes to candy provisioning. Either way, Zig and I now have two bags of candy that we will be forced to eat ourselves. Quelle horreur!

I certainly hope it's not a sign that this holiday is falling into disfavor! Despite my reluctance to put on a costume and be creepy myself, I love seeing other people dressed up in Halloween finery and getting a chance to play at being the person they always wanted to be for a change.

I'm seeing about one house in four lit up for business, and a lot of parents seem to be driving their kids around looking for concentrations of lit up houses instead of letting the little ones tramp around like we used to. :-(

I always buy the candy I like, so that I can eat the leftovers. Of course, the last several years I haven't had leftovers, and have actually had to turn off the lights and hide when the candy ran out. This year we had a lot left.

I don't normally think to buy candy, so the only time there are chocolates in the house is Halloween... This means that when there IS candy in the house, I have not learned ANY self-control WHAT-SO-EVER.

We bought 2 BAGS of candy on Sunday, and were moderately concerned that they would not last until Wednesday when the kids came by.

In addition to that concern, I've been crashing off a spectacular sugar buzz the second I get home from the office each night. It's moderately disconcerting that I even NOTICE this, but the nice office ladies keep loading me up with sugar and siccing me on the email server...

We have quite a bit more than 2 bags of candy left. I think we had almost 50 visitors last night, but it seemed pretty dead (pardon the pun). Maybe because Halloween fell on a Wednesday?

Next year will be on a Friday (leap year) and hopefully we will have our haunted maze back up and running. We had people express disappointment that we didn't do it this year.

Our house is known for giving out good treats and we get hit pretty hard. We also have special non-candy treats (stuffed bears dressed as witches) for really small kids so they don't get a sugar overload.

Sadly, I don't get a costume for "Domestic Goddessry" aside from a bun, sweats, and dirt! I totally love this holiday, and now that I have kids.... omg! LOVE IT EVEN MORE! Watching little man last night made anything and everything worth it. =)

i failed to be creative- but since my son has never seen me in my SCA armor, I just put that on and clanked out into the night with him. We got lots of great comments on our costumes. Its okay if nobody knows that I wear that gear every other week at fighter practice.

I'm sure the SMRT observers figured out your frequent usage, due in part to the fragrance of your armor....

It was a brisk night. Besides, only your sensitive sniffer has been so violently offended so far, though I do not pretend that any suit of armor used regularly develops... character.

Now go have Lizphreed spend her talent points you slacker!

I have lots of friends who are parents, and many seem to be going with the arragened events - trick or treating at malls or other sponsored places where someone can be held "accountable", it's usually lit up, and it's not cold.

My .02 cents! :)
