So last night, Katie and I were talking about how our men work in the bar scene, and how neither she, nor I are terribly won't to hang out in a bar. Mostly because we both enjoy handy crafts that would seem somewhat pathetic or just odd if carried out in a bar.

Then we got to talking about WHY it would be considered weird to bring one's knitting to a bar. People bring books to bars all the time... Why NOT knitting? Is it because bars are supposed to be for socializing? Perhaps. But if that were the case, then there should be no problem with TWO people bringing their knitting to a bar and sitting in a corner TOGETHER and knitting, right?

Right.

Especially not if they were knitting messages about the revolution into their sweaters... Thank you, Charles Dickens.

We are such geeks.

i used to crochet at a goth club. i sympathize.

the end result of my doing the, btw, was a bunch of folks sitting around and either crocheting or knitting at a post-club denny's a few weeks in a row. the waitresses got a kick out of that =)

We've done enough sewing/knitting/etc in the Resort bar that noone even looks at us cross-eyed anymore, even the small-town locals. :)

Do it. Change the paradigm. And if you give us notice, I betcha Leona and I will join you. *grin* Sewin' at the Inferno - hellz yeah.

my friend violentecstasy is seen in bars knitting all the time. it's perfectly acceptable for, at least here in STL, the chickies to take their knitting to bars. happens weekendly. ;)
