So, I would suggest you weave up the remainder with a color that creates a pleasing contrast to the original color. I think you have enough there for your project and then you won't waste the time/effort/materials of the warp. Then you can make something out of the little bit of leftover. or use it as a lengthening piece if needed. Your boy is skinny, so it should be fine. ;)
On the sleying issue, I have no help for you there. I know it's tempting, but if it took you this long to figure it out, it is probably not worth picking it all out again. (Don't let the OCD win!)
