Griffin's Needle:
So this competition, which should be fun, is stressing me out.
Why? Because it's got two components that I suck at: 1. A time limit, and 2. other people.
I think this will be more fun once I'm THERE and actually playing with fabric, as opposed to doing research and documentation for something that isn't for me (and is therefore less fun because I keep second-guessing whether or not so-and-so is going to approve of what I'm doing). I don't enjoy "timed" research projects - they frustrate the crap out of me. I generally meander through my research letting ideas put themselves together, after long periods of subconscious percolation. (This is also a less-than-useful process when it comes to trying to work with a team.) While the Griffin's Needle competition is a fantastic idea in theory, I'm finding that it really goes against the way my creative process works. *sigh*
On that gloomy note, I spent a good part of last night working on an "accessory" for Masha's outfit. A festive wool belt to go on over her overshirt.
It is actually flourescent pink, purple, and dirty orange, but as usual the colors look odd under the light in my kitchen.
Working on this project is interrupting my work on a pair of stockings for Miss Masha's brother - I'm most of the way through the cuff of the first stocking, using G's pattern:
That's about 11.5 stitches/inch using lace weight wool.

sirzig. They're a very pretty maroon color. I have no idea what they're called, but they please me greatly!

Plus since we have to make group decisions citing reasoning for things that other people reasoned is a challenge. I generally don't have issues explaining my thoughts but I'm still a new sewer so for me to try to explain why we have chosen a construction style.. I'm not there yet.
Sorry I wasn't more helpful, if we ever do this again I'd certainly go with something we had more experience doing HOWEVER I still think the event will be fun.
