ARRG! (And not just the event.)
Bah.
I have FINALLY figured out what I was doing wrong with the sweaters, *both* times I knit them. No wonder I was going crazy.... Every time I read the instructions I missed that little phrase "knit a round"... It only appears in the directions once in ONE KEY PLACE that is never mentioned again, but it is expected that you'll "knit a round" EVERY OTHER ROW FOR THE ENTIRE SWEATER. I never noticed that the numbering sequence switched to odd numbered rows only without so much as a ***!!! or a by-your-leave.
*sigh*
Stupid knitting patterns.
So now I have to rip out THIS entire sweater and start over again... Bah. So... Guess what I'll be doing at ARRG? That's right. Knitting. The same sweater. For the third time.

I agree.
I purchased some Scottish wool yarn on vacation.
Got home, went shopping to find a pattern to knit. Found cute elf boot type slippers and launched in. Discovered these things:
1. they don't take as much yarn as the pattern says (so I get to do other things with the yarn also! yea!)
2. following the directions does not make what is pictured.
I sewed up the seams, looked at it, rechecked the directions, remeasured everything, looked at directions, fitted on my foot, rechecked the directions, fitted on Dean's foot, remeasured everything. Repeat for about an hour.
Spent an hour trying to decided how to fix the pattern. Rip out one slipper and start redoing another pair.
I'm now back to where I was - ready to sew seams. Then I get to see if my fix worked or if I try again or just give up.
