Not saying that I'm going to vote one way or the other, but someone I know just referenced Obama's Big, Black Caucus and that just hurt my brains. Also, I'm still giggling a little. That in combination with my Mom's stories of the some of the first things she learned the importance of pronouncing correctly in Engrish, and I'm twice as amused.

The story goes that in post-WWII Japan, General Douglas MacArthur came back for a visit during his run in the 1948 presidential primaries. The ladies prayer group practiced their English, so that they could tell him in his native tongue that they were PRAYING for his ELECTION. Alas, this was not the message that was conveyed, in what was, one can assume, a gross misrepresentation of what their organization's goals were meant to be. I'm not sure if it actually happened, but this was how my mother was taught the vital importance of the L and the R in the English language and what a huge difference it can make if you just substitute any old letter that comes to mind. While tickled by their offer, I'm told that MacArthur did not opt to let any of the ladies from that particular group PLAY for his ERECTION.
