Any kind of competition... I think there is too much Japanese in me. I've only *just* learned to be a good sport in the last 10 years... Maybe in 10 MORE years I'll be able to enter a competition "just for fun."
I had a good time, even if I probably did push myself a little too hard. I got to know Helena a lot better than I did (Thanks for saying everything I was thinking when things got tough! My inside voice thinks you're fun to play with!), found out how good Wren is at doing documentation, determined that Masha is better at the fiber arts than she is willing to admit, and people falling asleep at the table is funny whether they're 4 or 40. (Some people do it more spectaculary than others!)
Also, the judges like a well turned pair of shoes. (Yay, Dennis!)
After the competition I really had a hard time driving home... I was getting a headache and having trouble keeping my eyes focused. I fell asleep on the couch and Zig woke me up when he got home from work. At that point, I had a really bad headache... I took some advil and went to bed again, hoping to "sleep it off."
No such luck.
I woke up with the WORST HEADACHE EVAR this morning at 10:00 AM... At which point, I realized that I didn't drink any coffee at the event past about 11:00 PM on Friday night and I hadn't had any soda either... I was in CAFFIENE WITHDRAWAL. Dumb! I made myself a pot of coffee (good thing that's something I can do blind-folded) and everything felt much better... Now I can see to knit, but my arms are still vibrating from exhaustion, so the fine work is right out...
:-P
Maybe for next year's competition I will come and just jump on a team at the last minute. That way, whether we win or lose, I will still be a welcome addition with the potential ability to "save the day."
