I am pleased to bits that [livejournal.com profile] ego_id_non_feci likes the scarf I made her. Now I need to find a simplified picture of a griffon to work out some white-scarf patterns I've been working out in my head. Then [livejournal.com profile] fencert and 'Rigo can have Magic Scarfs too. (I was trying to think of what I could do for the Knights and Squires, but they get applique'd tabards, and I think that's enough work as it is. Besides... "Magic Belts" just don't have the same dignified air that "Magic Scarves" do.)

This is incredibly silly, but this is how the magic scarves for Dons works out in my head: Imagine [livejournal.com profile] fencert is duelling some other person to defend MamaDog's honor... (It's a stretch, I know, but just run with it.) He is wearing his fancy Magic Northshield Scarf (Another stretch. He'll never remember to bring it anywhere once I make it for him.) and his opponent cant see anything but yellow and white stripes. And then! And then! In a flurry of final moves, [livejournal.com profile] fencert kills them dead! And as they fall to the ground, he puts his foot on their chest and says, "Haha! Now you MUST take back your foul accusation that my dog is vicious and drools too much!" (Mama is NOT vicious... Unless you are made out of tennis balls.) And as the dying opponent considers the error of his ways, he looks up, and suddenly, he can SEE the Griffons on [livejournal.com profile] fencert's Magic Scarf! And the villain will think to himself, "Dang! He's from Northshield! I never should have impugned the honor of Don [livejournal.com profile] fencert's adorable doggie! She really doesn't drool THAT much..."

Yes, I know. It is a wild and unpredictable fantasy life that involves drooly dogs, [livejournal.com profile] fencert, and future knitting projects, but I have to do SOMETHING while I ride the bus to work.

And, AND! [livejournal.com profile] ilaifire likes my knitting well enough to ask me if I'd make him a pair of hose! Hooray for hose! I shall get his measurements at WW and get started on a pair of hose for him posthaste. They likely won't get finished by Pennsic, but given two lazy weeks of War to knit my fingers to the bone, there's a good chance that I may get the stockings done during Pennsic. We shall see. I really need to bug [livejournal.com profile] valkyr8 and see if she's finished the charting for her version of the Elenora of Toledo stockings. Maybe I can outfit [livejournal.com profile] eithni and her "perfect apprenti" in Toledo stockings by Christmas.

I will need your measurements:

  1. Around the leg where you want the stocking to end.
  2. From 1. to the ankle bone, measuring over the top of the slightly bent knee
  3. Around the slightly bent knee going over the patella.
  4. From 3. to the ankle bone, measuring over the top of the slightly bent knee
  5. Around the slightly bent knee from just under the patella
  6. From 5. to the ankle bone
  7. Around the calf at the widest point
  8. From 7. to the ankle bone
  9. Around the "ankle" from the top of the foot at the bend to the bottom of the heel. (This is to ensure that you can get your foot into the stocking.) You will be measuring at a slight diagonal across the ankle bone.
  10. The foot from the base of your toes, to your heel. Do not include toes in your measurement.
