Well... I got the $7000 Multiskan EX plate reader (that's what the thingamagig is called, apparently...) working, but now the "free" printer is defunct. While all the people in the lab assure me that they'd rather have it THIS way than the way it was yesterday, I am still unsatisfied.

I upgraded the iMac from OS 9.1 to OS 9.2 (to resolve some USB issues) and then once it was TELLING ME what the problem was, I attempted to install a driver for that funky USB-to-Serial connector thingy... Only the computer was INSISTING that every file I offered it was "PC". ARGH. I think I found the old driver in the system and re-linked that with the device, which is what made it work again. I am wildly unsatisfied with the notion that I still can't figure out how to install a device driver on Mac OS 9...

*headdesk*

And the rest of my day wasn't any more satisfying. Sometime while I was battling the iMac, I managed to slice a chunk off my pinky finger, and while I didn't feel the wound (I suspect it's a wicked paper cut), it sure did bleed a lot.

Needless to say, I SHAN'T be going to fighter practice. I'm going to go home and nurse my wounds and attempt to do something PRODUCTIVE tonight. You know... like grocery shopping for dinner with one of my favorite Countesses. We will be making sushi, so I need to pick up some ingredients...

*corniness alert*
So I was at the oriental food store yesterday and bought this brand of "Japanese Sticky Rice" I had never heard of before. I made a batch with last night's curry to make sure it was OK...

Zig and I were winners on "The Rice is Right!"

The weird no-name rice will make decent sushi, but probably better used as mochi rice...
