W.T.F.

Oh, suckity, suck.

There is a problem with a "plate reader" (See: Scientific looking thingamagig that I think I saw Greg use on CSI one time...) that is connected via a D-Sub 25 pin connection through a convoluted series of converters to a USB port on an iMac that is running OS 9.x...

I have used and supported, Windows 9x-XP (With the exception of ME, which sucked anyway.) and all the various versions of OS X. I have worked on sparc stations.

I have never used OS 9.x. I have never seen the application that enables the use of the "plate reader." I don't know what it's supposed to do/look like when it WORKS. I can't find the "Hardware" or "Device Manager" equivalent to try and troubleshoot the connection with the "Plate Reader"...

And best of all, the manuals for all of it are lost in the mists of time...

*hate, hate, hate*

I'd love to help, but I have only a vague idea of what you just said, so I'm gonna go with the classic:

FISHSTICKS!

i -almost- remember os 9 - but can't

Should I look in my Max OS 9 for dummies book (after work) for help or are you covered now?

Can you send me a VERY LITERAL explanation of how to install a printer on an OS 9.2.1 iMac?

The printer is showing up in the chooser, and it shows up under in the device list, but when you actually go to print, the computer claims there's a connection problem. I've tried rebooting both the printer and the machine to no avail....
